About the Producer:
Quinta Nova lies in the heart of Douro valley and has been owned by the Amorim family since 1999. The winery has a long history, built in the 1700s and it used to belong to Portuguese royalty.
The estate has 120 hectares of vines which lie along the beautiful Douro river, in a UNESCO heritage area. The vines are terraced and rise up from the river banks. The low humidity in the area produces highly concentrated grapes both in sugar content and in colour.
The Mediterranean micro-climate translates into very hot summers and very cold and rainy winters, with annual average rainfall around 400mm, creating very concentrated, different and textured wines, as only this region can offer.
